The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 10 helped 26,796 participants in the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) across Northern Mindanao. The support aims to help poor and vulnerable families start or grow small businesses and become more self-reliant.
The program supported 8,963 SLP participants in Misamis Oriental, 7,823 in Bukidnon, 1,127 in Camiguin, 7,106 in Lanao del Norte, and 1,418 in Misamis Occidental. Although Marawi is not within DSWD–10’s regular coverage area, the field office still served 359 participants from Marawi.
DSWD-10 ensures that support will not stop after the initial help. SLP staff will regularly check in, offer coaching and mentoring, and work with partners to help keep livelihood projects running and successful in their communities.
“Our goal is to make sure that livelihood support leads to real, lasting improvements in income and self-reliance. Beyond the assistance, we will focus on technical support and building partnerships so participants can access more opportunities and sustain their gains,” said Ramel F. Jamen, Special Assistant to the Secretary & OIC-Regional Director of DSWD Field Office 10.
In accordance with DSWD Memorandum Circular No. 03, series of 2025, the SLP will continue to use an incubation approach focused on sustainability. SLP participants will receive ongoing guidance and training until they can run independently. When they are ready, they will be connected with local government units and partners for continued support and long-term success.
