The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office X (DSWD-10) has started updating records of the 46,914 Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens (SPISC) beneficiaries across Northern Mindanao following the data cross-matching results conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Verification and validation activities are simultaneously being carried out in the region, focusing on beneficiaries whose records were flagged due to unmatched information, reported deceased status, or duplicate entries. This ensures that only qualified and eligible indigent senior citizens continue to receive pension benefits.
“This initiative aims to maintain a clean and updated beneficiary database. It is not meant to arbitrarily remove pensioners but to protect the integrity of the program,” SPISC Program Head Mark Anthony Viernes said.
As part of the updating process, beneficiaries are required to present their National ID. Those without a PhilSys ID may submit any valid government-issued identification card. For cases involving confirmed deceased beneficiaries, a PSA-issued death certificate and other supporting documents must be provided to verify the reported status.
Identity confirmation is further strengthened through a liveness check using the Basta Beripikado, Mabilis ang Serbisyo (BBMS) platform to validate the beneficiary’s identity and current status.
Senior citizens who are not included in the initial list of flagged records may still voluntarily coordinate with their respective local government units (LGUs) or with DSWD-10 to verify and update their information, particularly their PhilSys registration details.
DSWD-10 encourages beneficiaries and LGUs to actively participate in the updating process to ensure the uninterrupted and rightful delivery of assistance. The Field Office also emphasizes that this activity is intended solely for updating the records of existing beneficiaries, not for enrolling new ones.
This initiative is part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to enhance data accuracy, prevent duplication, and strengthen transparency in the delivery of social protection services. It also supports the integration of the national ID system into all cash-based social protection programs. ###
