The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LRFRB) continue to work together to provide the emergency cash subsidy under the government’s social amelioration program to Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers  to help them sustain their daily needs despite the loss of income during the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine.

As of press time, a total of 12,454 PUV drivers from the National Capital Region (NCR) have already received the cash assistance. These include drivers of Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs), taxi, buses, motorcycle taxi, and Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS), among others.

PUV drivers are advised to check the list of beneficiaries uploaded on the LTFRB website to know if they are eligible for the assistance. Those included in the list may claim their cash aid at the nearest branch of Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), which processes a maximum of 500 beneficiaries a day. When claiming the assistance, drivers need to present their license and a photocopy of the same with two signatures.

Drivers not included in the initial lists of beneficiaries are advised to wait for further announcements from LTFRB. They may also contact the regulatory board through LTFRB hotline 1342.

DSWD and LTFRB remind beneficiaries claiming the assistance to follow stringent social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

DSWD, in coordination with other concerned agencies, continues to deliver the emergency cash subsidy provided for under Republic Act (RA) 11469 or the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act,” which amounts to P5,000 to P8,000 to support low-income families or those in the subsistence economy or workers in the informal economy, and with members belonging to the vulnerable sector, who are deemed to be the most affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. ###
