The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office X, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), is conducting process verification of 120 livelihood projects across Northern Mindanao on August 11–14 and August 25–28, 2026.

The activity covers 42 projects in Lanao del Norte, 41 in Misamis Oriental, 32 in Bukidnon, and five in Camiguin. Of the total, 85 projects were scheduled for verification during the first batch on August 11–14, while 35 projects are covered in the second batch on August 25–28.

Through process verification, SLP personnel from the Regional Program Management Office visit the livelihood projects to see their actual condition and determine how they are being managed. The teams check business operations, sales and expenses, available cash, equipment, products, business records, and the participation of association members and officers.

DSWD Field Office X Regional Director Glofelia J. Uayan said the activity helps the Department understand not only the progress of the livelihood projects but also the challenges faced by participants.

“Dili lamang nato tan-awon kung nagpadayon ba ang negosyo. Importante usab nga mahibal-an nato kung unsa ang ilang mga kalisdanan ug unsa pa nga suporta ang ilang gikinahanglan aron mas mapalig-on ug mapadayon ang ilang panginabuhian,” Dir. Uayan said.

(We do not only look at whether the business is still operating. It is also important to understand the challenges they face and the support they still need to strengthen and sustain their livelihood.)

During the visits, SLP personnel also review business records and talk with association members to determine whether the enterprise is earning, whether the livelihood assistance continues to be used for its intended purpose, and whether the group can sustain its operations.

The verification may also identify concerns such as low sales, limited buyers, difficulties in keeping business records or managing funds, production problems, and limited participation among members.

Based on the findings, SLP may provide or facilitate appropriate support such as coaching, skills training, assistance in business management, connections to potential markets, and referrals to local government units and partner agencies.

Process verification forms part of SLP’s continuing monitoring of livelihood projects to help ensure that the assistance provided to participants is properly managed and contributes to a more sustainable source of income for their families.
