LANAO DEL NORTE – 828 individuals from various communities in this province has gained decent jobs through “Payapa ang Masaganang Pamayanan” (PAMANA) of the KALAHI CIDSS – National Community Driven Development (KC-NCDDP) implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
According to Teofreda Dingal, Regional Deputy Program Manager of the DSWD, said that these individuals are now working for the construction of sub-projects in their communities, like hauling and time-keeping, and are compensated by the said Department.
As of October 2014, over Php1.3 Million has been used to pay the said individuals for their services.
PAMANA is the government’s framework for peace and development in conflict-affected communities. It is aimed at reducing poverty and vulnerability through community infrastructure and focused delivery of social services.
It is also implemented by the government to improve governance through partnerships with national and local institutions, building capacities for governance, and enhancement of transparency and accountability mechanisms.
According to Atty. Araceli F. Solamillo, Regional Director of the DSWD, said that PAMANA also empowers communities and strengthens their capacities to address issues of vulnerability and peace through activities that promote social cohesion.
