Cagayan de Oro — The Department of Social Welfare and Development through the Listahanan or the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction have recently tapped Municipal and City Mayors, Planning Officers, Local Social Welfare and Development Officers, barangay chairmen, and representatives from Civil Society Organizations in the five provinces of the region to prepare for the validation phase of the Listahanan Second Round Assessment.
Listahanan is a management system run by the DSWD to identify who and where the poor are. This is done through a household assessment which was saturated in the whole of Northern Mindanao last May of this year.
In the region, DSWD was able to assess 795,000 households.
Local Verification Committees, composed of the Municipal and City Mayors, Planning Officers, Local Social Welfare and Development Officers, and representatives from Civil Society Organizations were organized to address complaints and grievances relative to the posting of initial lists of poor households.
In Northern Mindanao, target date for posting will be within the third week of October 2015.
Area Supervisors and enumerators will be assigned in the various localities to facilitate in the conduct of the validation.
With the conduct of the validation, it is hoped that the list of poor households in Northern Mindanao will be correct and accurate as to who will become potential beneficiaries of social protection programs and services of the Department and other partner agencies.
