Some 185 low-income Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in San Fernando, Bukidnon, benefited from the Cash-for-Work Program (CFWP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at San Fernando Gym.

PWDs or their alternative family members worked for ten days at a daily wage of P461.00, engaging in community work suitable to their physical and mental capabilities.

The CFWP has continued this year and has been implemented by the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) through its Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KKB) modality.

Henobibo Bacus, a PWD from barangay Tugop who has Polio, worked in their barangay’s communal garden. On regular days, he earns a living as a farm worker.

“Usahay kung naay magpa harvest og mais, mo trabaho ko hinay-hinay, dili gyud tantong bug-at kay naa man koy kabilinggan.” (Sometimes, when someone asks help with harvesting corn, I work slowly; not too hard, because I have a condition.)

He says he is thankful for the opportunity given to PWDs for them to earn extra income. His first priority is to buy his basic needs after the payout.

The CWFP is an initiative of the DSWD designed to create short-term employment for PWDs and low-income families with PWD members. The program aims to offer temporary work to support these families in meeting their financial needs.

In Region X, a total of 1,000 beneficiaries are identified in the provinces of Bukidnon, including San Fernando, Kitaotao, Kalilangan, province of Misamis Oriental—Kinoguitan, Binuangan, and Munai in Lanao del Norte.
