The Community-Driven Development (CDD) strategy of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) received high praise during the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) First Quarter 2025 Meeting today.
The program reported a 100% completion rate for subprojects delivered in 2024, along with full fund utilization. Under KALAHI-CIDSS, the National Community-Driven Development Program Additional Financing Group 4 and Call for Proposal completed 86 subprojects, while the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) delivered 221 subprojects with a total value of Php157 million.
“One of the best-run projects. The community is engaged; they are involved from the planning stage to implementation. When communities are engaged, our success rate is likely to be much higher,” said Dir. Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño, CESO III, Regional Director of the National Economic and Development Authority X and RPMC Chairperson.
KALAHI-CIDSS collaborates with communities and local government units to implement local projects using the CDD approach, which empowers communities to participate in inclusive planning, budgeting and implementation of identified needs.
The RPMC plays a crucial role in monitoring and evaluating priority programs and projects across Northern Mindanao.
This year, KALAHI-CIDSS will focus on the functionality and long-term sustainability of delivered subprojects by continuously involving stakeholders in operational and maintenance activities.
Seeing the positive outcomes of the CDD strategy through KALAHI-CIDSS, Dir. Cariño has highlighted the CDD Bill as a priority legislative agenda item to be discussed at the Social Development Committee for its endorsement to the Regional Development Council X.
