Merfat Lumabao, an inspiration in her community, has emerged triumphant against the odds, proving that with resilience and support, dreams are within reach even in the face of adversity.

Determined to succeed, Merfat parents go above and beyond to ensure their children have the opportunity to finish their studies.

Born into a family of modest means, Merfat, the second child among five siblings, knew the weight of financial struggle from an early age. Her father, Mohaimen, navigated the bustling streets as a tricycle driver, while her mother, Fatima, dedicated herself to nurturing their growing family within the humble confines of their home.

Despite their challenges, Merfat’s parents instilled in her the values of perseverance and the importance of education. This unwavering support fueled Merfat’s journey through the corridors of learning, leading her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Social Work.

With unwavering support, Merfat’s mother stands by her side, turning dreams into reality with the help of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

“As a 4Ps grantee, it inspired me to take this course and to help other people in different ways just as the 4Ps program had helped me and my family,” Merfat shared, reflecting on the pivotal role of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in her aspirations.

Her decision to pursue higher education was not without its hurdles. The path was fraught with financial uncertainties and moments when the weight of responsibility threatened to derail her ambitions.

Yet, buoyed by the unwavering support of her parents, Merfat persevered, determined to carve out a brighter future not only for herself but also for her family.

On June 16, 2023, amidst a sea of pride and joy, Merfat donned her cap and gown as a testament to the power of resilience and hard work.

Her graduation marked the culmination of years of academic toil and a triumph over adversity, proving that financial hardship need not be a barrier to success.

Merfat’s journey inspires her community and shines as a shining example of what can be achieved through perseverance and unwavering determination.

As she continues to chart her path forward, Merfat remains steadfast in her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others, guided by the belief that with patience and perseverance, anything is possible.
