The 4Ps Regional Program Management Office of Northern Mindanao has launched a series of orientations to train local health workers and 4Ps personnel on the rollout of the First 1,000 Days (F1KD) campaign under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

4Ps Compliance Verification System focal persons brief local health workers and 4Ps workers in Lugait, Misamis Oriental on the tools for monitoring beneficiary compliance.

Leading the sessions were the focal persons of the 4Ps Compliance Verification System (CVS), who met with health monitoring officers from different localities across Northern Mindanao. They detailed the guidelines for implementing the F1KD campaign, which aims to improve the health and nutrition of pregnant women and children aged 0 to 2 years under the 4Ps program.

The F1KD initiative provides an additional ₱350 monthly top-up for compliant 4Ps beneficiaries. To qualify, 4Ps pregnant mothers must register first and meet key health requirements, including accessing prenatal care at DOH-accredited facilities, receiving antenatal care, delivering at an accredited health facility, and attending postnatal care services.

The campaign underscores the importance of neonatal care, requiring pregnant mothers to complete eight prenatal consultations during pregnancy. After birth, newborns must receive essential care, such as newborn screening, eye prophylaxis, and vitamin K supplementation to support early development.

Kenneth Haze S. Lustre, 4Ps Division Chief, thanked local health and DepEd officials for their strong partnership with DSWD Field Office X in implementing the F1KD campaign.

Lustre also urged 4Ps beneficiaries to take full advantage of the free F1KD services available at public hospitals, health centers, and government-run mobile clinics.

She emphasized that these services, including medical missions, aim to reach vulnerable and underserved communities, ensuring that children receive proper health and nutrition support from the very beginning.

The F1KD campaign reflects the government’s broader commitment to tackling stunting and malnutrition among young children, recognizing that the first 1,000 days of life are crucial for long-term health and development.
