LOOK| The Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) has taken a significant step in addressing food security and promoting sustainable local development through its recent visit to several Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facilities on March __, 2025. The visit aimed to assess the food needs of incarcerated individuals, improve food security within jails, and explore potential market linkages for Community-Based Organizations (CBOs).
As a result of this visit, a new Marketing Agreement will be established between the BJMP Regional Director and CBOs from the region. The agreement will cover 20 jail district facilities, ensuring a reliable and consistent supply of locally sourced, nutritious food for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). This partnership is designed not only to enhance food security but also to support the growth of CBOs, boosting the local economy.
In addition to strengthening food security, EPAHP is also preparing to offer targeted training programs for PDLs. These programs will focus on skill development, providing individuals with the necessary tools to successfully reintegrate into society upon release. This comprehensive approach addresses both immediate needs and long-term solutions to hunger and poverty.
Through this strategic collaboration, EPAHP continues to work towards creating a more sustainable and equitable future for both incarcerated individuals and local communities.
