This initiative was designed to strengthen the organizational capacity of 22 Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) from Lanao Del Norte, Bukidnon, and Misamis Oriental by deepening their understanding of organizational structures, roles, and governance systems. The activity was held from June 18-20, 2025 at Pearlmont Hotel, Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City.
The activity was organized under the leadership of Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Region X in collaboration with Mr. Jamil Anthony A. Sacar, Section Head of Institutional Market Linkages at EPAHP NPMO. The activity featured expert speakers from the Alliance of Cooperatives Against Hunger and Poverty (ACAHP), Engr. Gerry R. Burdas, Collective Strategies Alimentaires Project Manager, discussed Business Development. At the same time, Ms. Tonette B. Guillermo also covered Organizational Development topics such as the fundamentals of agricultural cooperatives, common challenges, governance management, capital formation, finance, and cooperative services.
Facilitators and resource persons shared best practices and practical tools to help CBOs improve their internal processes, accountability, and transparency. Attendees also engaged in peer-to-peer learning, exchanging experiences and strategies to overcome common challenges faced by community organizations. The activity provided opportunities for networking and collaboration, fostering stronger relationships among the participating groups.
The workshop’s objectives centered on fostering strategic planning and visioning, enabling the community-based organizations (CBOs) to establish clear organizational goals, define strategic directions, and formulate actionable plans aligned with the principles of the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP).
By the end of the event, the CBOs had gained increased knowledge and confidence to implement organizational improvements, develop sustainable programs, and advocate effectively within their communities. The initiative ultimately contributed to building a more resilient and capable network of community organizations committed to positive social change in their respective areas.
