Senior high school scholars from Xavier University-Andrew L. Gotianun Sr. Center for Integrated Technologies (XU-ALGCIT) were given financial assistance of 3,000 Php last February 20, 2023 at XU-ALGCIT campus. Coming from different provinces in Region X, Forty of the students received the assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office X under its Sustainable Livelihood Program through its Employment Facilitation track.
XU-ALGCIT provided the students with tuition-free education, with the incoming senior high scholars receiving two sets of uniforms and books. They are housed in a dormitory near the school with provisions of free daily meals. These were the promises the school gave the students from the day they had onsite enrollment that started last August 4, 2022.
“Do not lose hope. You had already achieved a lot from the day you were accepted and continue your hard work until you have reached your dreams. We are always here; supporting and cheering you until you have reached your goal.” Ms. Rosemarie P. Conde, DSWD X’s Assistant Regional Director of Administration, gave her welcome message on behalf of Ramel F. Jamen, the department’s Regional Director. She also thanked the students for their sacrifices going to the city, away from their home, to achieve a better life for their family.
“I would like to thank all the sponsors for believing in us because we won’t be here today without your help along the way.” Carl Anthony R. Cadeliña, one of the scholars, gave his testimonial. He is thankful for the financial assistance as it helps him and his fellow students acquire necessary materials to be used in school.
This initiative proves that through quality education these participants will transcend from poverty to sustainability.
