Cagayan de Oro – The Department of Social Welfare and Development recently launched the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services – National Community Driven Development Program (KALAHI CIDSS-NCDDP) – a flagship anti-poverty program of the national government that empowers communities to be involved in development through community-driven development approach (CDD).
           
Highlights of the regional launching were the Media Forum (Press Conference with Cagayan de Oro Press Club held at their COPC Office), Motorcade around the major streets of Cagayan de Oro and the Regional Launching Proper held at LimKetkai Mall Rotunda, where various stakeholders attended the said event; such as from the Local Government Units, National Government Agencies, Academe, Non-Governmental Organizations, Civil Society Organizations and the tri-media (TV, Radio & Print).
In an interview during the press conference Atty. Araceli F. Solamillo, Regional Director of DSWD Northern Mindanao, said that KALAHI CIDSS-NCDDP also addresses poverty issues that have been a big hindrance to development in local communities.
In the launching program, Governor Norte Khalid Q. Dimaporo of Lanao del shared his best practice and learning experiences with Kalahi-CIDDS projects in his province. He focused his discussion on the impact of the implementation of the project where majority of his constituents in the province benefited from the Project, not only uplifting their economic condition but most importantly alleviating the war conflict in the area that caused high poverty incidence and hampered the development of the province.
The launching officially ended with the signing of the Wall of Commitment with the various stakeholders present on the said activity, acknowledging and signifying their abiding support of KALAHI CIDSS-NCDDP implementation in region 10.
KALAHI CIDSS-NCDDP is an expanded scale of Kalahi-CIDSS which was implemented in Northern Mindanao for the last 10 years, empowering communities and building infrastructures. It is funded by World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
