The Regional Haven for women had a culminating activity as part of their celebration for the Women’s month .
With this year’s theme, “Juana, ang tatag mo ay tatag natin sa pagbangon at pagsulong”, the activity started with a short program with highlight on the lecture on Republic Act 9262 or the Violence Against Women Act by DSWD Social Worker, Ms. Janet Ganzan. Video presentations were also shown relative to the topic discussed while other activities included the residents ‘participation in the Holy Mass and Parlor games for the kids and mothers and video karaoke singing .
The Haven is the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s facility for disadvantaged women from ages 18 to 59 years old who are victims of forced prostitution, illegal recruitment, sexual abuse, and armed conflict. Battered women are also among the facility’s clientele group.
The Women’s month is an annual celebration which gives due recognition to women all over the world. Advocating the rights of women is also one of the activities conducted during this annual celebration . Local Government Units all over the country as well, have their respective share in celebration of the women’s month every year.
