A tale of resilience and triumph emerges as 23-year-old Charlemayne S. Fabe, a former Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiary, defies the odds to achieve academic excellence and pursue his passion for education in Camiguin Province.

Charlemayne began amidst financial challenges, being the fourth child among seven siblings.

Determined to overcome obstacles, he worked from a young age, selling bread to secure a weekly allowance while two older siblings pursued a college education.

These early struggles only fueled his determination to succeed.

In July 2023, Charlemayne proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, majoring in English, earning the prestigious Latin honor of Magna Cum Laude.

His success is a testament to the transformative power of education instilled in him from a young age.

Charlemayne aspired to become a doctor, but financial constraints redirected his path toward education.

Witnessing the impact of teachers on students, he developed a passion for education, realizing it was not just about imparting knowledge but also teaching valuable life lessons.

Luzviminda Fabe, Charlemayne’s mother, played a pivotal role in shaping his educational journey.

Despite facing financial challenges and being unable to complete her education, she dedicated herself to ensuring her children had opportunities she didn’t have.

The Fabe siblings received vital support from the national government, local government units, and civil society organizations, enabling them to acquire the necessary study materials.

Charlemayne excelled academically and in extracurricular activities during college, showcasing leadership as a feature editor and Chief Electoral Commissioner. He represented Camiguin Polytechnic State College in competitions, earning recognition in the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools competition.

Beyond academics, his passion for dance, sport, and teaching further revealed his commitment to education and the arts.

Grateful for the continuous support of the national government and local government units, Charlemayne’s determination remained unwavering.

Despite challenging financial circumstances, he thrived academically and embraced opportunities to showcase his diverse talents.

On the brink of a new chapter, Charlemagne is applying for a hospital position in Camiguin to cover expenses for the Licensure Examination for Teachers.

With dreams of joining the Department of Education and potentially working abroad, he aims to contribute to the global education community.
