The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office X has chosen a Higaunon Tribe Family as the first Exemplary 4Ps Indigenous Peoples Family in Northern Mindanao.
The Roca Family, a resident of Civoleg, Lunotan, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, is an active member of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) under the Modified Conditional Cash Transfer for Indigenous Peoples (MCCT-IP).
Marjon, the father, tries to improve the family’s well-being with the help of his wife, Ellen. The couple tilled a farm inside the ancestral domain of Marjon’s clan, opened a sari-sari store, and sold varieties of garden plants.
Both are active volunteers in their community: Marjon is a member of the Barangay Peace and Auxiliary Team and actively participates in formulating the Public Service Continuity Plan and reviews the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Plan and Recovery. At the same time, Ellen serves as the Barangay Nutrition Scholar and Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina in their barangay.
Not only that, Ellen is an active Parent Leader of her cluster and serves her church as a member of the Hermana in the Nuestra Sra Dela Candelaria Chapel.
Their daughters: Jean Mae and Flower, are consistent honor students.
