The lives of the Tagayon Family in Purok 2, Tunaan, Lala, Lanao del Norte, unfold a story of resilience and determination.

Community care in action! Melody Tagayon, a dedicated Barangay Health Worker in Tunaan, Lala, Lanao del Norte, tirelessly promotes health and sanitation for her neighbors.

Melody Tagayon, once a farm laborer alongside her husband, recalls the days of toiling under the sun, clearing weeds in exchange for a modest income barely sustaining their growing family.

“It was tough,” Melody reminisced, her eyes reflecting hardship and hope. “We faced financial difficulties that strained our marriage. Sometimes, giving up seemed easier than sending our children to school.”

In this photo you see Melody assisting her mother who lives with her. At the background is the construction of their new home, funded by her son.

Despite the challenges, Melody held on, driven by the dreams of her children – Charley, Merry Chris, and Ramil. Their education became her hope, a flicker of light in dark times. “Their dreams kept me going,” she shared a hint of pride in her voice.

The turning point came when Charley, the eldest, graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation, and Merry Chris earned a Bachelor of Secondary Education with Latin honors, Cum Laude.

“I didn’t expect my children to finish their studies,” Melody admitted with gratitude, acknowledging their support through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Charley, now working, took it upon himself to support Ramil’s education and even built a home for their mother. His success became a lifeline for the family, a testament to the power of determination and support.

“I owe a lot to the 4Ps program,” Melody emphasized, referring to the assistance that provided stability during their most challenging times.

Janna Grace Tan, the Municipal Link for 4Ps in their area, echoed Melody’s sentiment. “Programs like 4Ps are crucial in helping families like the Tagayons achieve their dreams,” she said, hopeful for the future of other beneficiaries.

Optimistic with the 4Ps implementation, Melody’s wish is simple yet profound: “I pray that more families under 4Ps find the strength to pursue their dreams, just like my children did.”

The story of the Tagayon family reminds us that with perseverance and support, 4Ps beneficiaries can overcome the most challenging circumstances.

As Charley continues to build a brighter future for his family, Melody’s journey is a testament to the enduring spirit of hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
