A beneficiary in Marawi City receives her cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 10 as support to start her livelihood.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 10 is set to give P257,832,000.00 to 17,905 families affected by the Marawi Siege that occurred in 2017. Giving P14,400 to each family intended for them to start anew with their livelihood, the DSWD-10 has already given out Transitory Family Support Package to 14,634 families under the Department’s Sustainable Livelihood Program.

The families that were given with the TFSP today were from the Most Affected Areas in Marawi City.

DSWD-10 gives P14,400 to a mother whose family was affected by the Marawi Siege in 2017.

From fathers, mothers, senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities, the DSWD-10 were able to provide livelihood augmentation for these families so that they can recover from their losses in the armed conflict.

Part of the program of the TFSP is to monitor that such amount is properly used for their livelihood needs. This is done through intensive monitoring of the cash assistance per family. In the payout, military personnel can also be seen helping DSWD-10 secure the area while the Department distributes cash to these families. The Armed Forces of the Philippines has been a partner of the Department since Day 1 in securing the areas where payouts are being conducted.

DSWD-10 continue to serve Marawi families despite the risks of the current pandemic.

It is the mandate of the DSWD to ensure that families who are victims of armed conflict are looked after, and providing them augmentation support so that they can fully live again in normalcy. Xxxcpt
