The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) proudly launched the 2025 Alunsina: Kabuhayan Convention and Bazaar on March 24-25 at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office X. The event, which drew attention to the entrepreneurial spirit in Region X, celebrated the innovative contributions of local entrepreneurs supported by the SLP.
Inspired by the Visayan goddess of change and prosperity, Alunsina symbolizes the transformative impact of the SLP, which continues to empower individuals and communities through livelihood initiatives. The convention, in its second year, provided a platform for eight clusters from Region X to showcase their locally produced goods and artisanal creations. The event not only facilitated in-person engagement but also integrated modern outreach strategies, including live selling via Facebook, ensuring the event reached a broader online audience.
Over the course of the two-day event, participants were able to sell products totaling approximately PHP 142,727, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for locally crafted goods and the talent fostered by the program. The showcased products ranged from handmade crafts to innovative local creations, demonstrating the diverse entrepreneurial potential of the SLP participants.
To further highlight the achievements of the clusters, the SLP hosted an awards and recognition ceremony. Awards were presented in categories such as Most Cooperative Cluster, Best Booth Product Display, Product Innovation Award, and Top Sales Award, celebrating excellence in entrepreneurship and collaboration.
โThe Alunsina Convention is not just about showcasing products but also about fostering relationships and building a community of entrepreneurs who can support each other in their journey toward success,โ said Mr Rhandy Ladoroz, head of SLP-10.
Ultimately, Alunsina serves as a vital platform for growth, providing both exposure and recognition for local entrepreneurs. By connecting producers directly with consumers, the event not only promotes regional products but also contributes to the broader goal of economic sustainability and community engagement.
As the SLP continues to champion local craftsmanship and entrepreneurship, Alunsina stands as a testament to the positive and lasting impact of the program on the lives of its participants.
