The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) under the Department of Social Welfare and Development, is mandated to enhance economic conditions of the program participants by providing essential resources designed to develop entrepreneurial skills for maintaining a successful livelihood. This initiative is part of MC 07 Series of 2023, which gives priority to the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized households and communities in implementing sustainable livelihood strategies. It focuses primarily on Employment Facilitation (EF) Track and Micro-Enterprise Development (MD) Track.

The program introduces a streamlined approach with an accelerated timeline that allows participants to engage in activities more quickly. It emphasizes intensive capability-building activities, which include providing hands-on training tailored to the specific entrepreneurial skills needed for their chosen enterprises. This practical training will cover essential areas such as business planning, marketing, and financial management, ensuring participants are well-equipped to succeed. Additionally, the program features a five-year sustainability incubation period, which is crucial for assessing and monitoring the progress of each enterprise. During this time, participants will receive ongoing support and guidance to help them achieve long-term viability and success in their businesses. The program also offers higher cost parameters, meaning that participants can access increased funding for seed capital, which is essential for covering initial business expenses and facilitating growth.

As mentioned, there are two funding tracks available in the program: in the MD Track, associations will receive 20,000 pesos for each program participant with minimum of 5 and maximum of 30 members and 15,000 pesos for referrals or walk-ins. Meanwhile, in the EF Track, each participant is guaranteed 5,000 pesos to assist with employment-related requirements. Overall, this new program aims to provide robust support for aspiring entrepreneurs, ensuring they have the resources and training necessary to thrive.
