In the heart of Purok 1, San Roque, Panaon, Misamis Occidental, resides a remarkable woman whose resilience and determination have turned the tide for her family.

Editha Bachinela, a solo parent, has not only overcome the challenges of single parenthood but has also paved the way for her four children to pursue their dreams, thanks to the support of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

Editha’s journey began when her household was validated and accepted into the program in Barangay San Roque on March 10, 2011, under Set 4B.

A solo parent since her husband’s untimely demise when her youngest was just three years old, Editha refused to succumb to despair.

Instead, she doubled her efforts to ensure her children’s education became a priority.

Despite being a single parent, Editha’s determination remained unwavering. She seized an opportunity with the municipality, securing a job order in the Engineering Office.

Her dedication and hard work in the workplace have been a testament to her commitment to providing a better life for her family.

Editha sends her children to school, with the help of 4Ps. Her children embody the fruits of her labor and dedication in raising them alone.

Editha’s four children, Kirby, Kris Ann, Karl, and Klent John, embody the fruits of her labor and dedication.

The eldest, Kirby, has completed his academic requirements and works as Administrative Aid IV in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

His success has enabled him to support his younger siblings’ education.

Kirby’s support has allowed Kris Ann to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as a third-year college student.

Karl and Klent John have also completed their Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology and are pursuing degrees in Marine Biology.

Editha actively participates in community activities despite her busy schedule, being a member of the Women’s Organization in the barangay.

She also attends Family Development Sessions (FDS), where she has learned valuable lessons on handling various situations and significantly raising her children.

The family’s participation in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program has lifted them from poverty, as indicated by the Listahanan 3 validation result. It has significantly eased the financial burden of education expenses.

Grateful for the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) support, Editha acknowledges the program’s pivotal role in maintaining a harmonious home and ensuring her children receive the education they deserve.

Editha’s story is a testament to the transformative power of determination, resilience, and the support systems provided by programs like Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino.

Her family’s success radiates hope throughout Panaon, inspiring others to believe in the possibility of a brighter future against all odds.
