[Tubod, Lanao del Norte] – The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office X (DSWD FO X) activates the provincial convergence through the Regional Memorandum of Understanding (RMOU) Ceremonial Signing facilitated by the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program to combat hunger and poverty in Kalimudan Hall, Lanao del Norte.

DSWD FO X Regional Director Ramel F. Jamen and Governor Imelda Quibranza Dimaporo led the RMOU signing, signifying the strategic collaboration between government agencies and key stakeholders in the province to address pressing socio-economic challenges.

The ceremonial signing, attended by Hon. Jimmy Cabahug of Tubod, Lanao del Norte, Hon. Abdullah Dimakuta of Tagoloan, Lanao del Norte, representatives from various LGUs, PSWD and MSWD officers, officials from public and private hospitals, and provincial counterparts of the 24 partner agencies of EPAHP, signifies a significant step towards fostering collaboration and coordination across different sectors, as they all pledge commitment to the program.

“There are a lot of programs and possibilities to mitigate hunger… dili pwede nga hangtud hangtud duna tay stop-gap [measures],” says RD Jamen.

(There are a lot of programs and possibilities to mitigate hunger, but we can’t just rely on stop-gap measures indefinitely.)

To break the cycle of poverty, RD Jamen emphasizes the importance of providing poor families with sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Through EPAHP, the families can be connected with demand partners to ensure their economic stability.

The Sustainable Livelihood Program in Lanao del Norte has an allocated budget of P44 million to assist poor families in launching small businesses. Additionally, there’s a P27 million budget for the Supplementary Feeding Program, allowing these families to provide products for children’s meals in local child development centers.

Through provincial convergence, community-based organizations will have an avenue to participate in government procurement related to food requirements as part of EPAHP’s capacity-building and productivity improvement initiatives. As the RMOU comes into effect, DSWD FO X and its partners are poised to embark on a collaborative journey towards building resilient communities and fostering inclusive growth in Lanao del Norte.
