Fifty out of school and in school youths received their stipend from the Government Internship Program.

Receiving the amount of P 6,600.00 per recipient, they thanked the Department for giving them the opportunity to earn for almost a month which they can use for their school and daily needs .

These out of school and even those in school youth recipients were chosen by the Regional Technical Working Group after a thorough deliberation.Out of hundreds of applicants, only fifty made it to the final list.

Recipients were chosen based on the family income and upon the recommendation of the Local Government Units where they reside. Priority was also given to Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries who have been out of school for not more than two years.

The GIP which is implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development is one of the components of the Kabataan 2000 program of the government, which provides opportunity for both out-of-school and in- school youths a hands-on experience of working in various government agencies.

The program enables them to learn life skills in the workplace, while earning money to help them meet their school needs. It is implemented during summer time when the youths are on vacation, thus, using their available time in a productive manner.

It introduces the youth to public service, serves as a recruitment mechanism for potential public employees, and extends possible financial assistance for their enrollment in the next school year.
The selected GIP participants were assigned in different Divisions and Units in the Regional Office .
